8.30-9.6 International market dynamics (from foreign sources)

The supply of ammonium sulphate throughout Europe remains tight, with Russian/Belarusian producers mostly supplying the surrounding markets with few products for export. The same European producers are also, especially the pellet manufacturers. There are reports this week that the demand for Saflinha in the Brazilian market is very strong. Prices remain stable.

Northwestern Europe: The tight supply of granular ammonium sulphate continues to affect market sentiment in northwestern Europe. The latest offer for the granule G3 rating is 210 Euro/ton fca Benelux/Germany, France is 213 Euro/ton cpt, and the G2 rating is around 180 Euro/ton. The national standard ammonium sulphate is quoted by European buyers at €115/ton fob Hamburg, and the small order price is €120/tonne. It is delivered to Northern Europe with a net ex-factory price of €110-115/tonne. Compound fertilizer producers will determine the price and quantity for the fourth quarter at the end of this month. The net price of North-West Europe from Brazil remains unchanged, with standard ammonium sulfate prices at $130-135/tonne FOB and granular ammonium sulfate at $165-172/tonne FOB Northwest.

Baltic/Black Sea: Due to the producer’s main supply to the local market, the supply of ammonium sulphate from the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea is rarely available for export. NLMK sold 1,500 tons of coking ammonium sulphate to Lithuania last weekend and shipped it to Lithuania in September for $100/ton cpt Draugyste. Higher than the last $4/ton. The remaining production of NLMK and the full production of Altai-Koks will be shipped to the domestic market – Phosagro Cherepovets.

Turkey: The financial crisis continues to limit fertilizer trade. The price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate other than China is US$140/ton, excluding tax, and the fourth quarter delivery letter of credit, but it is more and more difficult to obtain credit through Turkish banks. It is said that a large Turkish buyer purchased 30,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate directly from China at a price of US$116.50/ton FOB. Since the freight rate is estimated at around $20/ton, the arrival price is below $140/ton cfr.

China: Caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate traders are quoted at $115-116/tonne FOB, but producers are strongly quoted at $117-119/tonne FOB. Traders said that China had the lowest sales in the second half of September and increased supply in October. Demand for coking and caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate in the northern China region is expected to be strong due to increased demand in Brazil before the safrinha season. In addition, equipment overhaul and environmental pressure have reduced the operating rate of the manufacturers. Depending on the price of the extruded granules, it is reported that the price of premium extruded granules is $160/tonne FOB, while the lower quality is $140/tonne FOB.

Southeast Asia: This week, the Southeast Asian market is relatively quiet, with some looking for goods in the Philippines and Vietnam. The Philippines is seeking 6,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate. The most recent price is below $140/ton CFR.
