7.26-8.2 International Market Trends (from foreign sources)

Northwestern Europe: Harvest time in northwestern Europe should bring about demand for fertilizers earlier, and many European buyers are expected to enter the market soon. The standard ammonium sulphate price in August was about $130/ton FOB Antwerp and the local market was €115/ton FOB. Suppliers are worried that the ammonium sulfate market will continue to be tight due to the strong urea entering the fourth quarter, but suppliers are hesitant about the market due to the early time. Based on the increase in Brazilian cfr levels, European ammonium sulphate prices have risen to $162-172/ton this week.

Turkey: Agrofertrans continues to supply Chinese caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate at a price below US$140/ton cfr excluding tax. The gross tonnage is not yet clear, but may be between 30,000 and 30,000 tons and may be shipped from September to October. The purchase intention price remains below $140/ton. The freight rate of 30,000 tons of goods from China to Turkey is estimated to be 22-23 US dollars, which will make it a net profit of about 115 US dollars / ton before the profit, which is not feasible.

Russia: Russia’s supply is still tight, most suppliers focus on the domestic market, and shipments in August have been sold out.

Brazil: European granules are quoted at $197-202/ton cfr, which is a bit of a deal. The buyer/importer continues to purchase European pellets at a price of $190-195/ton cfr. High-quality Chinese extruded granular ammonium sulfate is 5-10 US dollars / ton lower than European products. Traders estimate that 3-4 batches of China’s granular ammonium sulphate will enter the Brazilian market in August. The European standard ammonium sulfate price is stable at 150-155 US dollars / ton CFR, and the Chinese price is 5 US dollars / ton. The seller began to pay attention to the goods in September, and the revision of the truck freight legislation began to pay attention. Trammo will ship 40,000 tons of ammonium sulphate in the freight market in Tianjin, Paranagua and southern San Francisco on August 15-20.

China: Due to environmental reasons, China’s ammonium sulphate supply remained tight in August and prices remained firm. This week’s price rose from $116-118/ton to $116-119/ton FOB, and the price of high-quality caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate was $120/ton FOB, but the purchase intention was lower than this price. For the Brazilian market, the price of granular ammonium sulfate is 155-160 US dollars / ton FOB China, higher than the last 145-150 US dollars / ton FOB. The freight rate for 40,000 tons of ammonium sulfate in Brazil is around $25/ton. China’s steel-grade and caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate supply remains tight due to continued environmental checks and summer cycles that have led to reduced production. Due to the lack of steel grade ammonium sulfate, the price of granular ammonium sulfate can be basically balanced with the price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate. The Jiangsu Haili Caprolactam plant is under commissioning, with limited production. The Shandong area is fully loaded, but the market supply is limited in August. The Baal Hengyi 300,000 tons unit was overhauled in early August, and the price rose by about US$3/ton this week. According to reports, Xuyang sold 2,500 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate to the domestic market at a price of US$120/ton this week.

Indonesia: From July 30th to August 9th, there was a batch of 25,000 tons of bulk ammonium sulphate from Tianjin, China, which was shipped to Belawan, Indonesia. According to reports, AKP and Dumai purchased 50% of the goods in the 24,000 tons of goods that arrived in Indonesia last month.

Philippines: Universal Harvester reportedly purchased two batches of 6,000 tons of Chinese caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate last week. According to reports, Atlas also purchased the 8,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate won on July 25th. The price is at $140/ton CFR. La Filipina purchased 6,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate and shipped it in September.

Vietnam: In June 2018, Vietnam imported 85,965 tons of ammonium sulphate, an increase of 22% from the 70,625 tons in May, but a 2% drop from the 88,184 tons imported in June 2017.

Canada: Trammo sold 20,000 tons of ammonium sulphate to Canada. It is said that a ship cost $34/ton from Antwerp to St Lawrence and Great Lakes in August.

Colombia: Monomoros last week tendered for 9,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate shipped to Barranquilla in August. The high price quotation caused the buyer to change their requirements to send 6,000 tons of ammonium sulphate to Buenaventura in the form of part of China’s goods.

Mexico: From August 6th to 9th, a trader loaded 2.5-3.4 million tons of ammonium sulphate from Ulsan, South Korea, to Manzanillo and Topolo-bampo.
