11.1-11.8 International Market Trends (from foreign sources)

Due to tight supply, ammonium sulfate prices have remained firm this week. China’s FOB prices have not changed, but producers continue to push prices up to $120-122/tonne FOB. Brazilian buyers are determining the price of saprenha in recent times, and due to the uncertain seasons in Southeast Asia and Turkish demand, prices are facing some downward pressure at the end of this year.

Baltic/Black Sea: As producers focus on the local market, exports from the Baltic and Black Seas remain small. Ammonium sulphate is quoted at $150/ton FOB, but there is no deal. Kuibyshevazot produces about 45,000 tons of ammonium sulfate per month and 3-5 kilotons from November to December. Kuiby-shevazot was almost sold out in November and December. Kuibyshevazot has sold 25,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate and shipped it to Phosagro from November to December for compound fertilizer manufacturers. European compound fertilizer producers are looking to buy ammonium sulphate in December and January. Some caprolactam grade ammonium sulfate has been priced at about $150/ton FOB Northwestern and granular ammonium sulfate up to $180/ton FOB Northwest Europe. The standard/crystallization grade ammonium sulphate price is 125-130 Euro/ton FOB Antwerp, equivalent to 142-149 USD/ton FOB Antwerp.

Turkey: There is no news about the bidding of Gubretas on November 2, which involved 20,000 tons of granular ammonium sulphate and 30,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate. The price of standard ammonium sulphate is as low as $150/tonne CFR, including 180 days of credit, unpaid taxes. Import statistics from January to September show that ammonium sulfate imports fell by 11% to 705,000 tons. Although imports from China have increased, imports from South Korea and Belgium have declined.

Brazil: Indagro has completed the sale of a 72,000 tons of Wuzhoufeng ammonium sulfate, with a final price slightly below $200/ton cfr. Indagro will load 7-8000 tons of cargo later this year and no longer plan big orders. Dreymoor has 42,000 tons of ammonium sulphate on the “Shrok” cargo ship bound for Brazil and will unload at Sao Francisco do Sul and Paranagua. Allied Harvest has 40,000 tons of extruded granular ammonium sulfate from China to Brazil. European producers have sold at $205-210/tonne CFR and continue to seek high prices of $215/tonne CFR in December. Standard ammonium sulfate is trading at $150-158/tonne CFR this week. European suppliers are pushing the next shipment price in December to $160/tonne CFR. As of the end of December, there will be nearly 498,000 tons of ammonium sulphate among the 15 vessels arriving at the Brazilian port.

China: The price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate in China is US$117-119/ton. Sellers are struggling to reach a FOB price of $120-122/ton, but as the Brazilian season ends, demand for granular ammonium sulphate is also falling, and prices may soon be under pressure. By the spring of 2019, the Brazilian market demand will decrease and China’s ammonium sulfate may reduce production. However, due to environmental reasons, during the winter months, the reduction in the market for ammonium sulphate may continue to strain the supply, especially if the domestic sales season in China started in November is strong and Turkey may return to the market. Purchase ammonium sulfate. Haili’s Jiangsu plant is currently under repair. According to reports, Saning, Luxi, Juhua, Suibao and Shenma were also overhauled. The average operating rate in China this week is 60-70%. A supplier in Fujian Province will supply 2-2.5 million tons of ammonium sulfate for December loading next week. The extruded granular ammonium sulfate is quoted at $152-155/tonne FOB, and some sellers are trying to push the premium pellets up to $150/tonne FOB.

Southeast Asia: The price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate is around US$140/ton cfr, and the demand in the region is basically completed.

Malaysia: China’s MMA grade ammonium sulfate price is as low as $120/ton cfr. China’s caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate supply is tight, with a low-to-medium price of $140/ton cfr, but in other East Asian regions, the price is still $130/ton cfr.
