China: The supply of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate in China’s ports is still limited, and the transaction reports that supply in May is still lacking. This week’s supplier’s offer is fob112-116 USD/ton, depending on location and quality. A trader booked a single item at fob112/ton last week and sent it to Indonesia. Last week, Trammo sold 24,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate to Incofe at a price of $130/ton cfr in Central America. The freight rate for 27,000 tons of cargo is estimated at around $20/ton, which means net profit is $110/ton or lower.
Ammonium sulfate exports hit a new high
In the first quarter of 2018, China’s ammonium sulphate exports hit a record high of 1.5 million tons, as buyers hope to reduce urea supply. Exports increased by more than 11% year-on-year. Indonesia ranks first, with exports of about 300,000 tons, a surge of 110,000 tons from last year, Turkey (241,000 tons), El Salvador (71,000 tons) and Myanmar (70,000 tons) are other countries with increased registration.
Philippines: Atlas had 7,000 tons in June and 6,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate in July. Swire has a single open 12,000 tons of cargo to Davao, which will be delivered at the end of May.
Baltic: A trader is looking for 15,000 tons of ammonium sulphate from Kotka or Klaipeda. The intention to ship the price at fob115-120 US dollars / ton, but this level has not been sold. Domestic prices are higher than the export price of $1-2/ton. The SBU will ship 10,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate with granular urea in the second half of May.
Brazil: At the beginning of this week, the price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate in western Europe was cfr145 USD/ton, which was shipped in May. The price of granular ammonium sulfate from Europe is cfr $190/ton. In the freight market, from May 4th to 10th, there was a single 2.5 million tons of ammonium sulfate from Gdynia to the Grand River.
Central America: Salvatore Fertica recently had a tender for goods in May, containing diammonium phosphate and some special cargo combinations, which were shipped to Akahutra, El Salvador, Sandino, Nicaragua and Caldera in Costa Rica. The company handed the tender to a dealer, rumored to be CHS, purchased 25,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate at a price of $140/tonne CFR or more, and purchased 1,000 tons of granules at a price of $170/tonne CFR or more.
