China: Some caprolactam manufacturers are still in service, so the supply of ammonium sulfate is limited. Prices are still stable at a low of $110/ton fob. At present, most manufacturers have not yet quoted in June. The price of steel grade extruded granular ammonium sulfate is fob 145-150 US dollars / ton. Indagro will provide Wuzhoufeng’s 60,000 tons of granular ammonium sulfate in late May, from Qinhuangdao and Yantai to Brazil.
Philippines: According to the market indirect report, Atlas has purchased 6,000 tons of Chinese caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate at a price lower than cfr130 USD/ton, and shipped it to Sangi before June 5.
India: Smartchem Technologies purchased 30,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate from a trader at a price of $135/tonne. Still not completely sure. Other buyers are looking for goods to the east coast in June.
Brazil: After the start of this year’s slow start, demand in Brazil is re-emerging, and buyers are requesting additional supply in addition to contracts that are usually purchased from Europe each month. As the peak season approaches, imports fall by 30% year-on-year, and interest in potential demand in June is also increasing. The Brazilian standard ammonium sulfate price remains at cfr140-145 USD/ton, and the granular ammonium sulfate is cfr175-190 USD/ton. Imports fell to 635,000 tons between January and April, down 31% from the same period last year. Although the number is lower, China’s shipments have increased by 15% to more than 400,000 tons. Shipments in Belgium and the Netherlands were reduced to 97,000 tons and 44,000 tons respectively.
North West Europe: Producers say they will deliver in May and June after they sell additional goods at the end of April. The price of the caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate in the previous single transaction was fob 125 US dollars / ton, and there are still inquiries from Mexico, Western Europe and West Africa.
Black Sea: SBU will load a total of 12,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate for Turkey in May and a large buyer of Tuapse for $115/ton. More ammonium sulphate in June or sold at the same price.
In 2019, North American fertilizer producer Nutrien converted its monoammonium phosphate production facility in Redwater, Alberta, into an ammonium sulphate plant.
