1.25-2.1 International Market Trends (from foreign sources)

The price of ammonium sulphate in the east is still rising, but other markets are basically stable, and buyers are evaluating the choice in March.

China: China’s caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate spot price is between FOB112-120 USD/ton, and the shipment period is February. The strength of the domestic and international urea market, coupled with the appreciation of the renminbi, has made the domestic ammonium sulphate’s price mentality stronger. The operating rate of ammonium sulphate plant is kept above 70%, which is much higher than that of urea and ammonium sulphate manufacturers in China. Port stocks across China are stable at around 123,000 tons. In 2017, China exported 5.8 million tons of ammonium sulfate, a year-on-year increase of 16%, mainly driven by the increased demand for granular products in Brazil and the renewed demand for ammonium sulfate in China. China exported more than 1 million tons to Brazil in 2017, an increase of 61%. Exports to Turkey reached 380,000 tons, an increase of 135% over 2016.

Indonesia: Kaltim purchased 5,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate from a trader, which is said to be priced at $145/ton cfr Bontang, ton bags, and arrived in February. Sentana purchased 6,000 tons of ammonium sulphate from Sinopec, priced at $ 136 / ton CFR Dumai, also arrived in February.

Philippines: La Filipina has bought 6,600 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate from Golden Barley at a price of up to $130/ton cfr Bacolod. The shipment was shipped from Fujian at the end of February.

South Korea: The second shipment this year is being negotiated for shipment to Turkey. South Korea exported 599,000 tons in 2017, an increase of 83% over the previous year. Mexico and Turkey are the main destinations, with 143,000 tons and 121,000 tons respectively.

Turkey: The price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate has risen to a minimum of $150/ton cfr tariff unpaid. The final sales contract for the region was $146-148/ton cfr tariff unpaid.

Black Sea: SBU sold 3,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate to Turkey at a FOB price of US$140/ton, and shipped it from Tuapse to Turkey in February. Ukrainian buyers are looking for ammonium sulphate, but since March began to ban the import of Russian fertilizer, sellers are not willing to provide more products for February. Schekinoazot has sold 10,000 tons of granular ammonium sulphate and standard ammonium sulphate to Ukraine for the February shipment. The price of standard ammonium sulphate packs has risen from $140/ton dap to $155/ton dap border station. The price of granular ton bag ammonium sulfate is stable at $190/ton dap.

North West Europe: The supply of North West Europe to March has basically been sold out. A small amount of standard ammonium sulfate prices remain at around $140/tonne FOB, while pellet prices are above $170/tonne FOB.

Brazil: For ammonium sulfate in China and Europe, the price of ammonium sulphate remains stable due to the lack of real trade. The price of standard ammonium sulfate in January was $140-145/ton cfr Brazil, while the price of granular ammonium sulfate was $170-190/ton cfr.
